Please be aware that we are more than happy to lend out books to our students. This, however, is a privilege by which we expect our students to respect. Starting Spring Session 2, (February 27, 2012), please note the following:
- BUY YOUR BOOKS AHEAD OF TIME. If you can find the physical book in a store, then make sure you buy it at least a week before class starts. If you are ordering online, then make sure you order 2 weeks before class starts to ensure it arrives on time. See Flyer below for instructions on how to buy your books online.

- TEXTBOOKS THAT ARE PROPERTY OF IAU CANNOT LEAVE CAMPUS. If you borrow a book, please use it to study on campus.
We are open Monday through Fridays from 9:30 am – 6:30 pm with many empty classrooms and tables to study.
- CHECKING OUT TEXTBOOKS. Check out textbooks with Pauline Airla (PA). Please SIGN IN and OUT so we can keep track of missing books. Exceptions are made for DBA students who doing their dissertation / project.
- SHARE YOUR BOOKS. Thank you for all the students that bought their books ON TIME. Please help those who are still waiting to receive their books in the mail by lending the book for them to use on occasion. We do not mind students sharing books as long as everyone has equal access.
Thank you all!

We encourage everyone to attend our FREE ESL CLASSES at the Los Angeles Campus. Our new instructor, for Spring 2012, is Susan Rath. With her B.A in Linguistics, Susan has had more than ten years of professional experience teaching English as a second language at different levels and environment to people of various cultures, ages, and professions. She is friendly, a great addition to our IAU Family, and will be at IAU every Monday and Wednesday morning for the Spring 2012 term! Make sure you pay her a few visits this term and take advantage of IAU’s Free ESL class.

Our wonderful Deryk (DD) attended Irvine University’s APA, Writing and Research Workshop to learn a little more about what type of skills we can help our students with here at IAU. The workshop is geared towards helping students improve their writing skills covering a variety of topics such as APA style citation, research, effective communication through writing, and much more.
APA (American Psychological Association) is most commonly used to cite sources within the social sciences. This resource, revised according to the 6th edition, second printing of the APA manual, offers examples for the general format of APA research papers, in-text citations, endnotes/footnotes, and the reference page. For more information, please consult the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition, second printing.

Just kidding!
No, not really. Due to the small amount of books we have at IAU, we are trying to provide ways to have them available for students to borrow when needed while keeping track of where it is.

IAU TEXTBOOK CHECKLIST ( CHECKING IN/ CHECKING OUT)
From now on, when borrowing textbooks, you must fill out a form with your:
- name
- telephone number
- book title
- date borrowed
- date returned
Please ask Pauline Airla (PA) for more info if you’d like to borrow an IAU textbook.

Today, I had a really great conversation with our Dean, Dr. Langvardt. He explained to me his involvements with SCORE, a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses start, grow, and succeed nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and has been mentoring small business owners for more than forty years. LEARN MORE ABOUT SCORE!

For those of you currently taking BUS 545 Entrepreneurship with Prof. Duru, I think it would be a great resource to have! If you want to get involved with SCORE or have any general questions, let us know and we will pass along the information to Dr. Langvardt!
