We love our ALUMNI!

We love when our IAU Alumni come to visit from overseas! Since a majority our students are distance learning students, it is very exciting to have them see our main campus in person. Mr. Rammohan Sundaram, MBA graduate went off to pursue his love of business by founding Network Play, one of India’s fastest growing media company with assets through alliances across various touch points including Web, Mobile, Direct-to-Home TV, Events and Publishing. Having started it’s operations in October 2008, NetworkPlay has been a pioneer in turning around the dynamics of the business in the marketplace.

Dr. Lai and Ms.Cane come to visit Los Angeles!

Here at IAU, we get very excited when our oversea partners and students come to visit our main campus in Los Angeles! Not only because we enjoy touring them around this beautiful city , but more so for the reason of getting to know our IAU Family a little better (:

Last month, Dr. Lai of South China University of Technology (SCUT), one of the Approved Support Centers IAU is closely partnered with, came to visit IAU along with his colleague, Ms. Cane Chan. We took them to see the LACMA Museum, Santa Monica Pier & Promenade, The Grove, Rodeo Drive, and to local restaurants for the ultimate Los Angeles Experience!

YES, there is still ESL during these hours but I am sure Susan will be joining us for treats as well!

& YES, there is still class at 11 AM.

NEW TEXTBOOK RULES!

Please be aware that we are more than happy to lend out books to our students. This, however, is a privilege by which we expect our students to respect. Starting Spring Session 2, (February 27, 2012), please note the following:

 

1. BUY YOUR BOOKS AHEAD OF TIME. If you can find the physical book in a store, then make sure you buy it at least a week before class starts. If you are ordering online, then make sure you order 2 weeks before class starts to ensure it arrives on time. See Flyer below for instructions on how to buy your books online.

   

2. TEXTBOOKS THAT ARE PROPERTY OF IAU CANNOT LEAVE CAMPUS. If you borrow a book, please use it to study on campus.
   We are open Monday through Fridays from 9:30 am – 6:30 pm with many empty classrooms and tables to study.
3. CHECKING OUT TEXTBOOKS. Check out textbooks with Pauline Airla (PA). Please SIGN IN and OUT so we can keep track of missing books. Exceptions are made for DBA students who doing their dissertation / project.
4. SHARE YOUR BOOKS. Thank you for all the students that bought their books ON TIME. Please help those who are still waiting to receive their books in the mail by lending the book for them to use on occasion. We do not mind students sharing books as long as everyone has equal access.

FREE ESL CLASSES!

We encourage everyone to attend our FREE ESL CLASSES at the Los Angeles Campus. Our new instructor, for Spring 2012, is Susan Rath. With her B.A in Linguistics, Susan has had more than ten years of professional experience teaching English as a second language at different levels and environment to people of various cultures, ages, and professions. She is friendly, a great addition to our IAU Family, and will be at IAU every Monday and Wednesday morning for the Spring 2012 term! Make sure you pay her a few visits this term and take advantage of IAU’s Free ESL class.

IAU Asia Tour!

Well if you didn’t notice them missing…Dr./Mrs. Richard Gayer, Dr. Kamel, & Ryan globe trotted Asia attending graduation ceremonies and visiting our partner schools. While the trip was wonderful, they were also very honored to witness the success of our overseas students. We graduated a total of 170 students in two ceremonies alone.

The 4th Joint Commencement held at The Gardens Hotel & Residences, Mid Valley Cityin Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was another success. IAU graduates from Vietnam, Iran, India, Malaysia, and Indonesia attend. After the ceremony and lunch, the World Championship Dragon Dance Team pefoms some amazing feats of acrobatic agility. View photos.

Visiting IAU’s local Medan partner school, the Professional Management College, Indonesia (PMCI), is an annual trip. Dr. Gayer and Ryan spoke to the students on various topics depending on the student level. View photos.

Holiday Social

IAU threw some holiday treats together for a Holiday Social on the last day of Fall Session 2. Although we were busy on this day, everyone still seemed to have a great time and enjoyed our festive treats!

Hyeyoung and guest Anizia Souto forwarded photos of our end-of-the-year luncheon at Myung Dong Kal Guksu restaurant.

 

We were very fortunate to have independent businesswoman and Portuguese-language teacher Anizia come down to speak to our ESL class about Christmas in Brazil. She also shared with us some tips on language learning.

 

Also, we were able to meet the new finance instructor Michael Kinnen. He’ll be teaching online.

 

It was a fun meet-and-greet, and the food was very delicious, too.
